My hunting life started as most young guys do, go out with a dad and granddad. Except in the far North Texas Panhandle it is not deer stands that most dads and sons share, it is goose blinds and duck holes. For the past 20 years I have been pursuing that passion that only waterfowling can bring. About 15 years ago I realized that speaking the language was what I was called to do. While attending college in the western slope of Colorado I spent yeas learning the language and relational patterns of Canada geese and puddle ducks. From there I translated it into my own calling. Little did I realize with the advent of the short reed call I would be able to coax these monsters of the sky to the ground so they can keep my mashed potatoes and green beans company on my plate.
Erik Guggenheim is from Amarillo Texas, He has guided goose hunts from the High Plains to the Colorado Front Range, High Country, to the Peanut country. Even in South America. One thing is the same; success is what he is after.
2008 will be his 11th year as a professional waterfowl guide. As of February 1st 2008, I have guided 4,000 customers and killed over 21,000  birds in 15 years of professional hunting. He starts waterfowl hunting in September through February then on to turkey. We have 4 full time guides and 2 part time guides for our guide service. He has been fortunate to have a 90% rebooking every year. I carry about 250 waterfowlers myself and shoot 1200+ birds each year. Our guide service takes out 500+ customers with 95% limits every day.
When he is not calling in geese, he has moved to the back of the camera to capture the moments and memories on film. My goal is to let people see what geese and ducks really do. He has been featured in many articles and films. His most recent work is the Gander Mountain “We Live Outdoors” and Tosh Browns new cook book “Grazing Across Texas”
